MEGS – Micro-Environment Glasses – are specially designed to relieve and protect eyes from the symptoms associated with chronic desiccation – “Dry Eye” - a condition that causes dryness and damage to the ocular surface. Symptoms range from fatigue, burning, dryness, excess tearing and itchiness to inflammation, severe pain and decreased vision. This condition primarily presents itself in patients diagnosed with Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), Dry Eye Syndrome, Blepharitis, and other eye surface diseases
CVS - MEGS-Micro-environment glasses
The patented micro-environment technology, MEGS, we have developed will creates a controlled micro-environment around the surface of they eye to block harmful elements in the environment. The controlled micro-environment begins with two enclosures made from tinted medical-grade silicon rubber, one for each eye. Unlike conventional glasses, the micro-environment glasses enclose the eye just below the brows and above the cheekbones. This position on the brow and cheekbones offers better ergonomic placement and weight distribution of the frames over the face instead of the placing the majority of weight on the nasal bridge.
The enclosures also act as a visor that reduces glare from indirect light sources like overhead lights or sunlight from windows. These tinted silicon enclosures are strategically mounted on eyeglasses that are designed and configured specifically for CVS sufferers. Spaces around the frames of the glasses special allow enough air around the eye to circulate as well as reduces allergens from reaching and overwhelming the ocular surface. Reducing the amount of allergens and dessication is added benefit.
The concepts and technologies employed in the design and creation of the CVS micro-environment glasses have been extensively focused on the computer user. Several different types of lenses that correct other mechanisms of CVS can be mounted in the glasses frames according to the needs of the CVS sufferer. Lenses with tint, refraction, glare-reducing characteristics, etc. can all be fitted in the frame.
